Update: Three dead, 70 unaccounted for in Costa Concordia disaster

Three people are confirmed dead and about 70 are said to be unaccounted for as the gravity of the Costa Concordia disaster begins to unravel.

Emergency teams in Italy have been racing to the island of Giglio off the Tuscan coast of Italy where the 114-500-ton ship, owned by Costa Cruises, hit a sanbar and then keeled over.

Coast guard vessels have been scouring the waters around the ship, which can carry up to 3,700 passengers. Divers are searching its submerged decks.
