Two new ships as Ponant sails 69 memorable polar and tropical expeditions in 2018-19

With two new Explorer-class ships, Le Lapérouse and Le Champlain, to celebrate its 30th anniversary, expedition specialist Ponant continues to encourage passengers to discover some of the most inaccessible locations on the planet for Winter 2018 – 2019.

Ponant now offers an ever-wider range of destinations and experiences: from the idyllic Seychelles beaches, the Kanak culture of New Caledonia, the intoxicating scents of Sri Lanka to the majestic New-Zealand fjords.

A selection of 69 cruises features the ice of the Antarctic to the coasts of Africa, from the great rivers of South America to Asia, the programme includes 27 polar expedition cruises and 18 tropical expedition cruises carefully designed for its winter 2018-2019 season.

Whether it is spending the Christmas holidays on the fringes of the White Continent or celebrating New Year’s Day in the heart of the Grenadines archipelago, Ponant offers passengers the opportunity to experience moments emotion.

It has designed 20 itineraries to explore Latin America, in comfort and luxury. Cruising through this land of contrasts will provide passengers with many discoveries; Brazil, country of thousand colours, The Caribbean islands, Chile, The Panama Canal and the meandering Amazon, the Orinoco River, idyllic beaches to stunning sea beds.

New itineraries for Winter 2018-2019 include:

  • Natural Beauty of Amazonia – A luxury expedition cruise to the heart of the Amazon rainforest, including outings in Zodiac dinghies with naturalist-guides and observation of endemic wildlife (toucans, falcons, ibis, parrots, monkeys and iguanas) plus a visit to the Salvation Islands to see the former prison cells as well as crossing the Equator.
