Star Cruises splashes out another £580m for second new ship from Meyer Werft

Star Cruises, the leading cruise company in Asia, has ordered a second new cruise ship with German shipbuilder Meyer Werft for delivery in autumn 2017.

The 150,000-ton vessel, which will increase the Star Cruises’ fleet to eight ships, will cost £580m.

She will be a sister to the ship ordered in October 2013 and will have a length of 330m and cruise with than 3,300 passengers in 1,680 cabins.

Both will offer a variety of restaurants, entertainment venues, casinos and a high number of suites specially designed for the Asian market, and a crew of about 2,030. With a speed of up to 24 knots, the ships will serve the Asian itineraries.

The order brings the number of shiups being built by Meyer Werft to seven.
