SeaDream Yacht Club announces new routes and first call in London for 2011

SeaDream Yacht Club is introducing its “Elegant yet Casual Holiday Experience” in a new and exciting sailing region in summer 2011 - Northern Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic and the Atlantic Coast of France, Spain and Portugal.

It follows a challenge by SeaDream’s owner Atle Brynestad to his creative team to develop an exciting new voyage programme.

Highly regarded for its summer voyages in the wider Mediterranean, Greek Islands and along the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia, the “plan” was to develop something entirely new.

SeaDream Yacht Club

So, in 2011 SeaDream Yacht Club will be sailing to Britain, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Russia, Germany, France, Holland, Spain and Portugal.

Brynestad aid: “It’s long been a dream of mine to have our yachts sail in Scandinavian waters, especially in the magnificent Norwegian fjords which I love. While I know our guests will love all of these new voyages, I believe they will especially love my Norwegian fjords.”

From May to August, SeaDream I will sail these new routes. Highlights will include:

  • SeaDream’s first ever call in the City of London
  • Summertime scenic cruising in the spectacular Norwegian fjords
  • Daylight sailing through the famed Stockholm Archipelago
  • A visit to the classic Hanseatic seaport city of Hamburg
  • Two nights and three days visits to Russia’s iconic former capital St. Petersburg
  • A call in Copenhagen the vibrant capital of Denmark
  • A transit of the magnificent Kiel Canal that links the North Sea to the Baltic Sea
  • A stop in Great Britain’s seldom-visited Channel Islands
  • Port stops in Brittany, the historic and culturally rich region of northwest France
  • A visit to Bordeaux in the heart of France’s premier wine region
  • And unusual, less visited stops along the Atlantic Coast of Spain and Portugal
  • Immediately prior to its Northern European voyages, SeaDream I will make a 15-day transatlantic sailing in April from San Juan, Puerto Rico across the Atlantic to London with a stop in the Azores.

Following her inaugural visit to London on May 8,  she will sail for Bremerhaven for routine maintenance and dry-docking prior to sailing these new routes.

Says SeaDream president Bob Lepisto: “These new itineraries embrace the very essence of the SeaDream Experience and will delight our clientele.”

Among new ports of call are Stockholm and Marstand, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; Oslo, Stavanger, Lillesand and Bergen Norway; Tallin and Kuressaare, Estonia; St. Petersburg, Russia; Hamburg, Germany; Amsterdam, Holland; Honfleur, St. Malo, Belle Ile, La Rochelle and Bordeaux, France St. Jean de Luz, France, Gigoni/Oviedo, Portugal; Cascais, Portugal and, of course the City of London, at the conclusion of SeaDream I’s transatlantic passage. SeaDream I will also sail in two of Norway’s most magnificent fjords, Hardangefjord, and the Sognefjord.
