Queen Victoria sails into Port of Tyne 20 years after first Cunard call

Queen Victoria arrives in the Port of Tyne on Tuesday morning (13 August) marking the first call from a Cunard ship since the QE2 in 2008 on her farewell tour.

It was the ship’s maiden stop on her 12-night voyage around the British Isles.

Arriving in-bound from Southampton, passengers had the opportunity to explore all that the North East has to offer, including Segedunum in Wallsend and Beamish Museum in Durham – both within easy reach of the Port.

Andy Foster, commercial manager of Port Services, stepped on-board to welcome the ship’s captain and crew, saying: “We are delighted to welcome Cunard’s Queen Victoria, almost 20 years after we welcomed Cunard’s Royal Viking Sun, our first ever cruise call, on 30 August, 1999.”
