Queen awards Hebridean Princess her Royal Warrant

Hebridean Princess, much loved by the Queen, has been awarded the Royal Warrant.

It is believed to be the is the first time a Royal Warrant has been awarded to a shipping company, and Lord Sterling, chairman of the vessel’s owners Hebridean Island Cruises, has expressed his pride at the ultimate recognition for a tiny ship that began life as a Caledonian MacBrayne car ferry.

Hebridean Princess, the lone vessel of Hebridean Island Cruises, was chartered by Her Majesty in 2006 to take her family on an 80th birthday celebration cruise around the Western Isles, and again in August last year for a family vacation.

In a statement just issued, Lord Sterling said: “I am delighted to inform you that the Grant of a Royal Warrant of Appointment to the Queen has been approved and it is a great pleasure to inform you that Roger Allard (pictured) will be the personal warrant holder.

“This is a great compliment to the ship’s company and all staff ashore. I think I am right in saying that this is the first time a Royal Warrant has been awarded to a shipping company and I am sure that all sister companies within the All Leisure Group will be proud to receive this news.

“We will be able to reproduce the Royal Warrant on all Hebridean stationery and marketing material as well as display on board Hebridean Princess.”

Roger Allard is chairman of the All Leisure Group.
