Princess Cruises sails two ships out of Singapore for first time in 2018-19

Princess Cruises will sail out of Singapore for a fifth consecutive season in 2018-19, but for the first time with two ships as Sapphire Princess partners with her twin sister, Diamond Princess.

Both 2,670-guest ships will homeport at Marina Bay Cruise Centre to meet increasing demand for both short and long-haul cruises from Singapore.

For the November to March 2017-18 season in Singapore, Sapphire Princess will be making 3- to 13-night sailings in Southeast Asia, visiting the ports of Bali, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Port Klang, Phu My (Ho Chi Minh City), Nha Trang, Phuket, Ko Samui, Laem Chabang (Bangkok) and Sihanoukville (Cambodia).

But from late November 2018 to March 2019, guests will have the option of cruising on both Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess.

Diamond Princess will offer 10 to 11-day voyages in December 2018 and January 2019, offering guests a unique opportunity to celebrate year-end Christmas and the New Year festivities visiting exotic destinations.

Nearly 70 per cent of guests are expected to come from overseas to depart from Singapore and local guests will be able to meet people from different countries and backgrounds through a range of social activities.

Since Princess Cruises established operations in Singapore in 2012, the global cruise line has experienced significant growth as more travellers from around the region, including families and millennials, have taken more cruises to experience attractive itineraries to exotic locations as well as premium onboard facilities.
“Singapore is a thriving and attractive cruise hub, with world-class berthing facilities and proximity to a wealth of cruise destinations in the region,” said Farriek Tawfik, Princess’s Southeast Asia director.

“We are seeing increasing demand among Singaporean and Southeast Asian travellers, opting for cruise travel to explore the region. Our commitment to homeporting in Singapore for a fifth consecutive year reflects our goal to meet this demand by offering new travel experiences.”
For the 2018 and 2019 homeporting seasons, all cabins on Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess will feature the new Princess Luxury Bed, designed by sleep expert D Michael Breus to optimise staterooms for a sleep-friendly sensory experience.

Diamond Princess features the largest Japanese bath at sea – an 8,800 sq. ft bath and garden complex, offering indoor and outdoor Japanese bathing experiences including steam rooms, saunas and hot tubs with spectacular ocean vistas.

Both ships also feature the award-winning Sabatini’s Italian Specialty Restaurant and Sterling Steakhouse, Movie Under The Stars (open-air poolside amphitheatre); Lotus Spa; 24-hour room service; Princess Theatre; internet café, duty-free shopping among many other amenities.
