New captain takes the helm of Hebridean Princess
There will be a new man at the helm of Hebridean Princess for the 2012 cruising season.
Chief Officer Richard Heaton will work alongside Captain Ian Stevenson as joint master of the 2,112-ton luxury vessel, much-favoured by the Royal Family and, in particular, the Queen.

Richard Heaton has become joint master of the Hebridean Princess
Heaton, from Nottingham, joined Hebridean Island Cruises in 2002 as 2nd officer and was was promoted to Chief Officer in 2006. He also carried out appointments as 2nd Officer and Chief Officer in Hebridean Spirit.
He was present on both occasions that the Queen chartered Hebridean Princess for private holidays around the Western Isles of Scotland.
Mike Deegan, group operations director of its owner, Hebridean Island Cruises, said: “It’s with great pride that we announce Richard’s promotion. Having been with the company for over ten years it’s always important to recognise ‘home grown talent’. We wish him every success in command of Hebridean Princess.”
Hebridean Princess offers guests a selection of diverse itineraries around Ireland and the Scottish Highlands, including the new ‘Footloose in Ireland’ itinerary – the ship’s first walking cruise in Ireland, Footloose through the Isles, Footloose on Skye and Footloose through the Celtic Fringe.
