MSC Cruises dishes up a new programme of food and wine cruises

As if eating isn't already one of the great pleasures of cruising, MSC Cruises has decided to take it a step further with cookery courses under the guidances of some of Italy's best known chefs.

Whether you are already a super cook or simply looking for an introduction to the world of fine food and wine, MSC’s popular theme cruises offer a real voyage of discovery.

imageBrand new for the winter/spring 2011/2012 early season, Italian-oned MSC Cruises has sought out some of its home country’s leading names to offer a series of special courses, demonstrations and activities.

The cookery schools of ‘La Prova del Cuoco’ (literally ‘The Chef’s Challenge’) tour Italy teaching with the same fresh and friendly style made famous by the popular TV series of the same name.

Each course, created especially for MSC Cruises, comprises five lessons covering everything from meat and fish through to fresh pasta and desserts, along with tips on how to put together a menu and choose the best ingredients.

These workshops in 2012 are available on the following Mediterranean cruises:

  • MSC Orchestra 18-night cruise, March 20
  • MSC Poesia 9-night cruise, April 26
  • MSC Magnifica 12-night cruise, May 22
  • Meanwhile, the ‘Approach to Wine’ course with the Italian Sommelier Association, an organisation that has been helping define the role of the sommelier since 1965, comprises five lessons featuring both theory and practical wine tasting sessions.
