More time in Europe’s iconic cities with Emerald Waterways in 2020

Escape to Europe in 2020 with Emerald Waterways’ new European River Cruises programme and enjoy more time in key destinations such as Paris and Madrid with the launch of their expanded city-stay programme.

Guests can now add up to three days pre or post cruise to extend their time in these two cities joining the already popular line-up of cruise and stay trips offered throughout Europe on selected itineraries.

To mark the launch of the new 2020 programme, Emerald Waterways is selling the 2020 cruises at 2019 prices with lead in price starting from just £1,395 per person for an eight day cruise including flights (based on 1 November 2020 Danube Delights departure).

Highlights of the 2020 programme

New Tulips and the Rhine river cruise

The eight-day itinerary calls at Basel (Switzerland), Breisach and Kehl (both Germany), Strasbourg (France), Manheim, Heidelberg, Koblenz and Cologne (all Germany), before arriving in Amsterdam where guests disembark for the flight home.

Guests can visit Keukenhof Gardens in Amsterdam as part of the EmeraldPLUS programme - a collection of extra-special excursions and experiences. Other highlights include a visit to the medieval town of Heidelberg, a tour of Cologne and its World–Heritage listed Gothic Cathedral and an EmeraldACTIVE hike through the Black Forest. From £1,695 based on 30 March departure.

New city stay extensions

Guests can explore some of Europe’s most fascinating cities in more depth with two new city stay extensions in Paris and Madrid. Add a three-night stay in Paris on the ‘Sensations of Lyon and Provence’ or ‘Splendours of Europe’ itineraries, or a two night stay in Madrid on the ‘Secrets of Douro’ itinerary.

The 15-day itinerary calls at Amsterdam, Cologne, Rüdesheim, Miltenberg, Wertheim, Würzburg, Bamberg, Nuremberg, Kelheim, Regensburg, Passau (all Germany), Linz, Melk, Dürnstein, Vienna (all Austria) and Bratislava (Slovakia), before arriving in Budapest (Hungary) for the flight home.

Guests can enjoy a guided hike to Bratislava Castle, see Vienna’s world-famous Opera House and City Hall while on a guided drive through the city and savour Hungarian folk dancing and a music performance on board in Budapest. From £2,995 per person based on the 20 April departure.

The 2020 European River Cruises programme also includes visits to Switzerland, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, France, Portugal and Spain.

Prices include return flights, transfers, nights onboard as stated, all tipping and gratuities, food and selected *drinks onboard, shore excursions and exclusive onboard events and experiences. Regional departures are also available.
