Konnichiwa! Princess Cruises unveils its biggest ever Japan season in 2017

Princess Cruises is delivering its longest ever Japan cruise season in 2017, with a total of 39 departures, reflecting the fact that Asia is now the second most popular destination for its UK customers.

The voyages of five to 17 nights between April and November are all on the 2,700-guest Diamond Princess, offering views of famous landmarks such as Mount Fuji and the abandoned Hashima Island, used as the setting for films including Skyfall.

Guests will have the opportunity to join some of Japan’s largest and most celebrated festivals and events, including the flower festivals that take place during the April cherry blossom season. Ten UNESCO World Heritage sites will be available to explore such as the Shiretoko Peninsula, recently named one of the “cruise wonders of the world” by Condé Nast magazine.

Diamond Princess is tailored specifically for the Japanese market. Its dining rooms serve a wide range of Japanese cuisine and it offers experiences including a traditional onsen bath, “rakugo” storytelling performances and origami classes.

Says Tony Roberts, vice president Princess Cruises UK: “A cruise is the perfect way for holidaymakers to experience several different destinations and cultures while only needing to unpack once. The extended season will give more choice not only for those wishing to visit the region for the first time but also those revisiting and looking for something different.”

Guests can choose to travel around Japan itself, or combine it with other countries including South Korea, Taiwan, Russia, Hong Kong and Vietnam.
