Holland America’s 2017/2018 calendar features new Asia cruises and more trips to Alaska and Europe

Holland America Line's April 2017 – April 2018 cruise holidays cover more destinations than ever including new itineraries in Asia and an Alaska programme that’s been specially enhanced to celebrate the company’s 70th year in the “Great Land”.

For 2017 Holland America Line is offering the chance to explore more of the Far East. An extended Asia season sees more 14-night Asia cruises than ever from Singapore and Hong Kong, visiting Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia. New itineraries will see ports of call at Japan, South Korea and China, with departures from Tokyo or Shanghai featuring overnight stays in Incheon (Seoul), Tianjin (Beijing) and Shanghai.

Guests can also enjoy other new itineraries; Taiwan and Japan cruises from Taiwan or Hong Kong. These include an additional one-night stay in Shanghai and Hong Kong plus Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Naha, Ishigaki, Keelung (Taipei), Kaohsiung, Manila.

Those seeking to explore the other side of the world in style can also sail on the Vista-class ms Noordam or ms Maasdam on a 13-15-night Australia and New Zealand or South Pacific cruise from Sydney or Auckland

To mark 70 years of leading the way with holidays to Alaska and the Yukon, Holland America Line will be dedicating seven premium ships, including Signature-class ms Nieuw Amsterdam and ms Eurodam, with sailings from Vancouver and Seattle to Alaska May-September 2017.

Ms Oosterdam, the first ship to feature the partnership with award-winning BBC Earth, will also sail seven-night itineraries to Alaska from Seattle.

For the ultimate Alaskan coastal experience, ms Amsterdam will cruise the 14-night Great Land Explorer roundtrip Seattle with additional calls into remote Kodiak and Homer.

Holland America Line is also offering 10-20-night Yukon & Denali Land + Sea Journeys, which include up to three days in the vast wilderness of Denali National Park staying at Holland America Line’s newly restored McKinley Chalets Resort. Guests will experience a ride on the scenic glass-domed McKinley Explorer train from Anchorage as well as a three-seven night Alaska cruise.  Seven to 14 night cruises from Vancouver and Seattle also spend a full day in Glacier Bay.

Re-discover the Americas & the Caribbean

Holidaymakers can enjoy trips to Caribbean, Bermuda, South America, Mexico, Hawaii and much more. Seven night Canada & New England cruises, for example, are ideal to combine Bermuda where the ms Veendam docks in Hamilton for three nights.

Holland America Line also offers a choice of leisurely Caribbean cruises to suit both sun and culture seekers. Seven to 16 night Caribbean itineraries include a full day at Holland America Line’s award-winning private island Half Moon Cay in The Bahamas. This 1700-acre island, (only two per cent developed), features a huge interior lagoon, a two mile crescent of beautiful beach, with lots of opportunity to soak up the sun or enjoy some water activities.

Travellers can cross from the Pacific to the Atlantic through the Panama Canal in grand style with Holland America Line. There are some fantastic itineraries with port of calls along the way at Cayman Island, Jamaica, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Mexico – to name a few.

Europe – Enhanced ships and itineraries

After its unveiling and maiden voyage last year, the new Pinnacle ship ms Koningsdam returns to Europe for 2017. Offering seven to 14-night cruises, the ship will sail to Norwegian Fjords, Baltic Capitals & Iceland from Amsterdam and to the Mediterranean for spring and autumn cruises.

Leisurely Mediterranean cruises mean a choice of city escapes combined with more unusual destinations, long days ashore and overnights in port.  ms Westerdam, featuring new enhancements including upgraded suites, new “Music Walk” entertainment areas and the first ship to showcase the company’s new art workshop partnership with Rijksmuseum at Sea, will sail the Mediterranean from Venice, Rome and Barcelona on 10 – 12 night itineraries, which also features overnight stays in these vivacious capital cities.

For those looking for trips to northern Europe or even unusual destinations such as Greenland, Russia, Newfoundland, Baltics and the Fjords, there are itineraries onboard ms Zuiderdam from Copenhagen and the flagship ms Rotterdam from its homeport, Rotterdam. The 835-guest ms Prinsendam also offers extended and unusual itineraries in Europe. This includes everything from a 14-night Burgundian Explorer featuring the Gironde Estuary and Bordeaux to a 20-inght North Cape, Spitzbergen and North Cape cruise.
