Fred Olsen’s Balmoral kicks off record nine-cruise inaugural season from Edinburgh

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’ flagship, Balmoral, sets sail on her inaugural cruise season from Edinburgh (Rosyth) tomorrow (16 May) during which she will be offering a record nine cruises up to July.

She replaces Black Watch, who sailed eight cruises from the port in 2017, and kicks off with a 10-night Swedish Waterways & Cities cruise.

Scottish holidaymakers can choose from destinations including Norway, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Scandinavia and the Baltic.

Fred Olsen’s Clare Ward said: “We have been extremely encouraged by the warm reception that our flagship Balmoral has received in Scotland. We have booked more guests onto the ship out of Rosyth than we did for whole of our last cruise season put together.”

The line has also confirmed its commitment to Edinburgh (Rosyth) with a second programme of eight Balmoral departures in 2019.

Robert Mason, Capital Cruising’s head of cruise at Rosyth, said: “Rosyth has benefitted from significant investment to become Scotland’s key turnaround hub, with great destinations to sail to. We are thrilled that Balmoral – and also sister ship Black Watch – will be regular callers into Rosyth.”

Balmoral’s cruises include:

  • Nine-night German Waterways cruise, departing 31 May, from £699 per person
  • Nine-night Greatest Fjords of Norway cruise, departing 12 July (adult-only), from £1,099 per person
