New Chief Executive Officer for Silversea Cruises

Roberto Martinoli Roberto Martinoli is the new Chief Executive of Silversea, effective from 19 September. Martinoli, a board member of Silversea since 2013, becomes CEO after an extensive, and successful career in the cruise and shipping industry. “Roberto is a dedicated professional with a long track record of driving great companies to even higher heights,” said Manfredi Lefebvre, d’Ovidio, Silversea’s Executive Chairman. Hanseatic successfully navigates Northeast Passage ... again!

image For the second time Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Hanseatic has successfully navigated the Northeast Passage between Murmansk/Russia and Cape Dezhnev.
The expedition voyage, which was fully booked, departed from Tromso on 16 August and, after sailing a total of 5,542 nautical miles, arrived in Nome on 10 September. Said Captain Natke: “The Northeast Passage is a spectacular voyage and always will be. Nature impresses with unique and exciting insights. Cunard is providing Virtual Reality viewers to travel agents to ensure they can educate their customers with the next best thing to first-hand experience. P&O Cruises raises over £50k for Teenage Cancer Trust

image P&O Cruises has raised more than £50,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust since the beginning of 2016.
Carnival UK chief executive officer David Noyes said: “Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer aged between 13 and 24. As we take thousands of British families and children on holiday each year, this charity has huge relevance and we want to help as much as we can.”

Carnival gives $250,000 to help Luisiana flood victims

image Carnival Cruise Line and its parent company, Carnival Corporation, have give $250,000 to charitable organisations to support their efforts on behalf of victims of the Louisiana floods. Recipients include the American Red Cross, Louisiana Association of United Ways and Save the Children. In addition, guests sailing on Carnival cruises from New Orleans have the option to donate when they check in and employees have been encouraged to donate, as well. www.carnival.com
