Second series of ITV documentary ‘The Cruise’ to be filmed this summer
image A second series of a six-part ITV documentary set onboard a Princess Cruises ship is being filmed in the Mediterranean over the course of the summer. The Cruise, which aired earlier this year, revealed what life is like for crew and guests onboard a Princess cruise ship and attracted an average audience of 3.5 million per episode. The new series is being filmed on the 3,560-guest Royal Princess, the sister ship to Regal Princess which appeared in the first series.
The new series, which will continue to give viewers insight into the day-to-day roles of the 1,400-strong crew, is provisionally scheduled to air early next year.

Crystal River Cruises has set sail with the christening of its first vessel, the 154-guest Crystal Mozart, in Vienna. She was named on 13 July by Elisabeth Gürtler, managing director of both the Hotel Sacher, Vienna’s most famous hotel, and the city’s historic Spanish Riding School. Four additional river yachts will be launched by the end of next summer. Measuring 395ft long and 75ft wide, the all-suite Crystal Mozart is the largest of all European river vessels.

imageFred Olsen Cruise Lines has launched a new kids club on board its fleet of four ships called Little Skippers. Parents and grandparents can leave their children in the care of the qualified hosts and hostesses who, during peak holiday seasons, will arrange a variety of family-orientated activities, including arts and crafts sessions, deck games, treasure hunts, quizzes, cookie and pizza making in the Galley, games evenings, swimming classes and much more.
Neil Herbert, Head of Sales at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said: “Parents or grandparents can indulge in a spa treatment, relax by the pool, or sip on a cocktail in the lounge, safe in the knowledge that their children will be looked after by our team of creative and professional hosts.”

Norwegian Cruise Line launches Euro pricing for Republic of Ireland market
image Norwegian Cruise Line has launched Euro pricing for the Republic of Ireland in another step forward in its “Growing Europe” strategy to develop and enhance Europe’s robust position as a source market for the company globally. Christian Boell, Managing Director EMEA, Norwegian Cruise Line, said: “We have ambitious growth plans for Norwegian in Europe and as a result have taken a Europe-centric approach to achieving our goals. Developing and growing our business in Ireland is a key aspect of this and we recognised that we had to make some changes in order to better equip our partners.”

Royal Caribbean to build “iconic” new cruise terminal” at PortMiami
image Royal Caribbean Cruises is to build a dramatic new cruise terminal at PortMiami, boosting its passenger traffic from 750,000 to 1.8 million a year.  The 170,000-square-foot terminal will serve as homeport to Royal Caribbean International ships, including a 5,400-passenger Oasis-class vessel. “We are truly excited to be working with Miami-Dade County and PortMiami to create not just another cruise terminal, but a truly iconic building,” said Richard Fain, RCCL’s chairman. “This new terminal is a symbol of our commitment to Miami, the city where our company first started almost 50 years ago.”
