Cheers! Celebrity Cruises toasts major awards for food and wine

Celebrity Cruises is on a roll after collecting three prestigious awards in the past few days for its outstanding food and wine.

First off was recognition of its extensive wine programme on all 11 of its ships in the Wine Spectator 2014 Restaurant Wine List Awards, collecting 10 out of the 12 honours for the second year running.

The publication’s “Award of Excellence” is given for wine lists that offer a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style.

“To be chosen by Wine Spectator for ten of the highest honours in the cruise category reconfirms our commitment to developing a wine programme that represents quality, innovation and an unmatched variety in the cruise industry,” said Chanelle Duarte,  Celebrity Cruises’ beverage consultant. “It’s an honour to be recognised for having a serious wine programme.”

On average, Celebrity Cruises’ main restaurants have mnore than 400 wines available, featuring an extensive global collection of fine wines. Each of Celebrity Cruises’ onboard speciality restaurants also have their own unique wine lists, created with the style of the dining menu in mind.

Designed to please the wide range of Celebrity Cruises’ guests, from the novice wine drinker to the most ardent enthusiast, the wine lists are presented with the wines grouped by flavour profiles. In building the list, each wine was carefully reviewed by the cruise line’s team of wine professionals and rated based on its characteristics.

It was also listed as one of the Top 100 travel experiences for 2014 by the readers of luxury magazine Condé Nast Traveller.

The award puts Celebrity Cruises in the same category as some of the world’s finest hotels, villas, islands and spas including North Island in the Seychelles and The Savoy Hotel in London. Celebrity also achieved runners-up status in Condé Nast’s Favourite Large Ship Cruise Line category.

Toby Shaw, Celebrity’s director of marketing and PR fopr the UK and Ireland, said: “Winning awards and being recognised for excellence is always something to be very proud of.

“We have evolved and developed not only our food and drink options over recent years, but also invested significantly in new experiences for our guests covering everything from spas to suites.”
