L’Austral
A streamlined sensation with privacy in mind
With her streamlined silhouette, Compagnie du Ponant's L'Austral, which arrived in April 2011, is designed with the spirit of a private yacht in mind.
The 466ft yacht, built at Fincantieri shipyard like its sister ship Le Boréal and designed by Jean-Philippe Nuel, combines chic French style with cutting-edge technology.
It offers a unique ambiance on board, a subtle combination of well-being, sophistication and privacy.

Luxuriously decorated in a contemporary style, the interiors are refined but welcoming, favouring natural materials and traditional nautical features.
Two pairs of massive arched windows fore and aft allow for plenty of light and expansive views of the sea from the vessel’s lounges and public spaces.
L’Austral’s ambiance is distinctly nautical with a ‘soupçon’ of French style. Compagnie du Ponant guests will enjoy the best France has to offer: delicious cuisine, tasteful accommodations and a stylish, yet casual setting.
The service is very personalised, and Compagnie du Ponant’s ambition is for guests feel like they are sailing on their own yacht.

L’Austral has an abundance of public spaces
Serving French and international cuisine, the main restaurant offers three meals a day in an elegant setting. At the more casual grill restaurant, guests can dine inside, or in the open-air, on lighter meals for breakfast, buffet lunch and themed dinners. The yacht also provides 24-hour room service.
The Sothys™ Spa features a range of therapies and beauty treatments including a hammam and a hydrotherapy room. The Fitness Centre comes with the latest treadmills, bicycles, Kinesis equipment and gorgeous views.
There is ample room to enjoy the sea air on the expansive Sun Deck, beside the swimming pool, or on the Panoramic Terrace.
L’Austral’s fleet of zodiacs allow guests to explore private coves and deserted islets. On a hot summer day in the Mediterranean, guests can enjoy jumping off the marina platform for a refreshing swim.

The Observatory lounge is the best place to watch the world go by
All but eight of the 132 suites and staterooms aboard L’Austral have verandahs that range in size from 43 square feet to 97 square feet.
The suites and staterooms are spacious – measuring from 400 to 200 square feet – and designed in a comfortable, contemporary style with king or twin beds, baths with showers, flat screen satellite TV with on-demand first-run movies and iPod™ players, satellite direct-dial telephone and Wi-Fi.
Suites also have Nespresso machines and Sothys™ amenities. The yacht has the flexibility to reconfigure 40 staterooms into 20 suites making a total of 24 suites and 88 staterooms.
