Another celebrity star with a host of original features
Celebrity Cruises luxury vessel, the 77,713-ton Mercury, arrived in Southampton on October 17, 1997.
Mercury was the third in Celebrity’s new series of technologically advanced ships, not only featuring Celebrity’s signature AquaSpa, high technology Celebrity Theatre and an advanced interactive communications system, but also uncompromising levels of cuisine and service excellence for which Celebrity has earned its outstanding five-star reputation.
A prominent design team, including the original contributors to Century and Galaxy, as well as notable American designers, created a unique platform of style and function onboard the ship. Mercury’s public rooms are designed to flow together, allowing passengers to relax in the spacious surroundings of the ship without feeling crowded.

The 1,870-passenger ship was constructed by Joseph L Meyer in Papenburg, Germany, who also built Celebrity, Zenith, Horizon, Century and Galaxy.
