Compagnie du Ponant
Up-market cruising all over the world
Compagnie du Ponant is well known for the originality of its itineraries and destinations, its tailor-made/themed cruises, the quality of its services and elegant a la Francaise way of life on board, reasonably sized ships and its commitment to respecting the environment.
Founded in 1988, Compagnie du Ponant, formerly known as Compagnie des Iles du Ponant/ Ponant Cruises, is the only French-registered cruise company with a fleet of five exceptional ships: Le Ponant, Le Levant, Le Diamant, Le Boreal and the newest addition to the fleet, L’Austral.

Whether you choose one of the 32 cabins on Le Ponant, 45 cabins on Le Levant, pictured, 113 cabins and suites on Le Diamant or 132 luixurious staterooms on sisters Le Boreal and L’Austral you can be sure of an outstanding experience in a setting specially designed for your well-being and privacy.
On board everyone sets their own daily pace, free to enjoy the delights of a “select solitude” or to share convivial moments over the many activities on the programme.
The line recently changed its name to Compagnie du Ponant and adopted a new visual identity and logo a contemporary makeover to reflect more clearly its position in the cruise industry as it prepared to welcome L’Austral, in April 2011.
Deputy general manager Veronique Saade said: “The new name is more easily remembered and understood by all international markets, while remaining loyal to its French identity and spirit. The new title retains two key elements: Compagnie hints at its tradition for travel, like the big maritime companies, while Ponant represents the essence and the name by which it is so well known.”
Accompanying the new name was the tag line Yacht Cruises, to underline the upmarket dimension express the services and values of a company offering intimate cruises with French sophistication, and attentive yet discreet services, on reasonably sized boats. Passengers feel that they are cruising on a private yacht.
Finally, the visual identity was given a makeover. The new logo, with its three sails, conjures up images of escape, of land and sea. The more modern typeface and harmonious colour range reflect the warmth of travel combined with Compagnie du Ponant’s values of elegance, intimacy and sophistication.
With itineraries carefully planned to whisk you away from the familiar, the Compagnie du Ponant cruises will take you to secret moorings way off the beaten track. Be it in the Caribbean, in the Canadian North, every port of call offers a wealth of unexpected surprises.
